About the Cover
The cover image for this edition is an adaptation of an original publicity photograph of circus performer Bird Millman[1]. The image is in the Public Domain in Canada and was downloaded from Wikimedia Commons.
The story of Bird Millman bears many similarities to that of Mademoiselle Mimi Trillon, who is one of the main characters in Lost for a Woman. Bird Millman was similar in both style and personal life to the fictional character Mimi Trillon. The use of this image for the cover was based on the remarkable similarities between the two.
